Description:
Rawhide Ranch, a private camp established in 1963, is located in
northern San Diego County, California and is famous for providing
campers from all over the world a taste of the old west. Campers learn to ride
in our well-known western-style equestrian program. Co-ed program, ages
7-15. The daily program includes riding, vaulting, animal care, animal
& horse science classes along with a variety of electives to choose from
such as roping, swimming, archery, drama, crafts, climbing tower, weekly
newspaper, dance, field sports/games. ACA & CHA accredited.
Ranch Hands learn how to
ride a horse in a week, and can learn horse gymnastics (vaulting)
or how to drive a pony-drawn cart. At the end of the stay, everyone participates
in a horse show, either
riding, performing or
showing a farm animal. Campers earn privileges after demonstrating proficiency
and safety in many events and electives.
The Ranch employs 19
full-time staff with an additional 10-12 part-time employees for the weekend
camps, and 25-30 summer employees. Many of the employees are also students.
